Velcon Engineering and Surveying, LLC (VES) has provided professional and quality engineering services for a safety study and then minor roadway design elements for the City of Port St. Lucie. VES was first tasked with developing a safety analysis of an existing midblock crosswalk and providing alternatives with pros and cons to improve the safety of said intersection. The study was presented and a preferred option was chosen by City management. VES then prepared construction plans for the chosen improvements to the existing crosswalk. The most notable improvement was the replacement of existing advanced warning flashers with solar-powered, actuated, Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB). Also, the crosswalk striping was improved and the nearby sidewalks and curb ramps were brought into ADA compliance.
VES staff consistently demonstrated professionalism, efficiency, and adherence to budgets and schedules, with an excellent finished product. VES staff always made themselves available to meet or talk as needed. I would not hesitate to recommend the services of VES to provide similar services for your entity.
